Saturday my husband and I had a horrible and frightening experience. We decided to visit the garden centre about 4 miles from us.. who knows we might see a plant I needed?? No way, I don't need any more plants. Gardeners are like book readers, you buy plants and books because you do, no needs, just loves!
We always drive along in silence, enjoying the green country side, usually the radio turned down low.
All town roads in Wales are 20mph. but as we leave our town the speed changes first to 70mph as we go round the roundabout and under the M4, then it drops to 50mph.
Suddenly we were aware of a car on collision course with us, I screamed and Dh swerved the car to the road side; miraculously the car was able to swerve behind the car he was trying to over take and we drove to the layby and little way ahead, and stopped, as we were both very badly shaken. It was very frightening.
We got what we needed from the garden centre and drove home, saying thankful prayers all the way. If we were drinkers we'd have had a brandy, it was certainly needed. But I couldn't wait for a cup of hot tea and I had 2 paracetamol, as they are suggested to tamp down jangling nerves and all I could think of was, if the worst had happened at least we were together and what a blessing we didn't have Nell with us! Daft or what?

A terrifying and very familiar experience. There are some real nutters on the road and they are usually the ones who walk away unscathed if anything does happen.
There is nothing like a frightening moment such as that to put you on aware for the rest of the day. Too often I'm finding that drivers around here like to drive halfway over the center line. They used to just be on it.
Very nasty. I'm sure the other driver took more care after that.
So scary! I am glad that the collision was avoided.
That is so scary! I'm thankful your husband was alert and avoided it!
Hope today is peaceful!
I've faced that situation, and been forced off the road onto a verge. It was the only patch of suitable verge on that road! I got out and watched the two vans continue racing each other into the distance, marvelling I was still alive. Then I got back k into the car drove on to the school... and taught 30 children... still quivering. I sympathise; it's a horrible experience.
Thank goodness neither of you were hurt! Such a scary experience though!
Such events can really shake a person's equilibrium. Glad that nothing happened other than to your nerves!
A nasty and frightening experience for you both and I am really glad you are both OK.
What a horrible thing to happen. Thankfully the swerve off the road did not make your vehicle roll over and that there was room to get off the road. Around here there often isn't a shoulder to swerve to. Angels watching over you.
Oh my! I have had such experiences, and know how terrified you must have been! A simple little drive turned into a very scary situation. I am so glad you husband had quick reflexes!
Very scary! Thank goodness neither of you were hurt!
All the best Jan
That would have been very scary! I'm glad you managed to avoid being in an accident!
