The only thing you should stop wearing as you get older is the weight of other people's opinions!!
Because I believe this, I've published Jane from Dorset's comment.
Happy travelling Jane, as you go on your way. You're allowed your opinion but not to criticize others nor impose your views on others.
As a matter of fact, I personally think everyone should garden as best they can and within their means, so I wouldn't suggest any product to anyone..

Well said!
It bugs me when people say 'you're entitled to your opinion' when you express something. It's their way of saying they disagree and their opinion is the right one.
Re garden, it's coming into autumn downunder, such a relief. Can't wait to plant lots esp lavender, it's been too hot for new plants to survive.
Absolutely! xx
Please don't prolong this. It is upsetting.I think there was a genuine misunderstanding. I read the initial comment as saying something like "why do you think peat free is rubbish? Surely' it's better for the planet. Maybe you had once bought a bad batch, I have found brand M to be good" A genuine question followed by a helpful suggestion.
I don't believe Jane meant to be opinionated or preachy. You are able to make your own compost, but not everyone can do that, and newbie gardeners like me are always grateful for recommendations.
The problem with many comments is that we often read them in the wrong way,( like brief texts or emails.) and put them into the wrong tone of voice in our heads . I know I make that mistake sometimes.
Just because someone one doesn't have an open, public blog, that does not invalidate their comments.. I met Jane when I was in Dorset, she is a genuinely kind person, and i don't think she ever intended to start anything like this.
Please can we stop misrepresenting this woman as bossy and unpleasant?
Gardening can be a wonderful way to relax.
I'm too old to have to waste time worrying or fretting over someone else's opinion.
I posted a photo of my kitchen on a vintage kitchens Facebook group, and a couple people said it was too cluttered for them! I just told them it was a good thing they didn't live here then! I love my kitchen but it's not for everyone.
Your perspective on opinions and personal choice is refreshing. Letting go of the weight of others’ judgments is such a freeing outlook, and it’s great that you encourage individuality while maintaining respect for different views. Gardening within one’s means and personal style feels like a wise, adaptable approach.
By the way, I’ve just shared a new post. I’d love for you to take a look and share your thoughts.
I'm with Ang here... I think there is a misunderstanding between two genuinely kind and lovely people from reading some words, and now two people are upset. Goodness me, I've said, heard, written and read things the wrong way so many times myself!
