The best news ever

Amazingly wonderful wonderful news

This morning I have received a letter from the hospital with the results of the cystoscopy I had two weeks ago and there is no evidence of an abnormal growth. I have not got cancer!!! Yeh... whew I have a lot worries about it.
I could run through a meadow shouting and laughing I feel wonderful
Yes I have an aggravated area from constant UTIs so I am to have a prophylactic anti-biotic for 6 months..
Amazing news and thank you Lord.. for not just the results but for getting me through it. And my lovely DH for his care and love.
I might not be able to run but I can go out to the garden and enjoy the air, the bluebells and even the dreaded weeds.. all green and fresh.
 Life is good.

Frogs arrived

I am happily crocheting a second cushion using the sweet pea yarn I have left.. this time I'm using Lucy's  woodland wavy pattern
But I 've hit a snag, I 've decided it needs to be bigger so,  rip rip, yes Mr Frog has been busy

And I don't mind because I enjoy doing it
Would you be willing to undo 5 evenings of work?

Happily using up my sweet pea yarn

I 've made a cushion with some of my left over sweet pea coloured yarn using Attic 24 Lucy's cup cake pattern. I 've crocheted db stitch rather than tr because I wanted a smaller stitch effect.
I 'm now doing one in the woodland ripple stitch.
It is so relaxing, the hook weaving in and out and the pattern emerging.
Another very rainy day, just the sort of day to be in the warm crocheting, a very happy time.
Anyone got other ideas for left over yarn?

And now I 'm ........

The thing about knitting is I can watch TV at the same time
 And it is very relaxing..

But what pattern to do??

I like them both, which would you choose? I like the stripes but perhaps different colours. I have grey, lemon and baby blue that could be nice with a navy in between..

Decision made!

TA-DA at last!

I have finished my Attic24 Sweet pea blanket at last and I haven't even done it full size. It was a single bed size but I only wanted a throw for our summer house settee. I chose the Posy colour sequence and the border is my own design and I love it.
It is squishy and soft and in my eyes lovely.
I love the colours and with the remainder of the yarn I shall do some cushions but with a different stitch. I have thoroughly enjoyed crocheting this and would do another Lucy blanket although we don't need it,  I just like the crocheting. DH bought me the pack as a Christmas present. I asked because I know men can't read minds!
Anyone else ever crochet a Lucy blanket?

Progress

As you can see I have done quite a bit of my sweet pea blanket. I think I have 5 more colours in Lucy's colour order to finish part three. I shall do my best to get a few done today, so I can get on with all those other projects I have on the go. I think next will be to finish a child's cardigan, something easy!

Left over yarn

I belong to the CAL for the sweet pea blanket, I am on part three.  I am not making it bigger,  but will be doing the border next as it will be big enough as a throw for our summer house settee. But on the FB page people are asking what do you do with your left over yarn. I did this poncho with Lucy Attic 24 pattern just like hers.
Last week I gave it to a charity shop as I thought I 'd wear it gardening, but it wasn't lose enough.
I enjoyed doing it so that was my pleasure. In fact looking back at this blog, most of the cross stitch I did was for gifts or raks or exchanges so I need to do some for me!
I have 6 wips so I need to be more focused and get stitching! Plus I have 2 knitting projects to finish And a quilt.. oh dear quite a lot on the go!
How many stitchy things and/ or any other projects do you have on the go?

An answer and so that's that.

A few people who email me have asked what has happened since  someone whom I loved dearly,  became a screaming out of control person on a phone call.

One of the things she  shouted at me my arm isn’t that bad and I should be grateful that it isn’t cancer. That wasn’t all that was shouted on that phone call. No end of complaints of things I had done or hadn’t done to which I was clueless.  Afterwards Dh and I went through the things she complained about and there weren’t any grounds for the things she complained about. We had done things that she had wanted. She had no idea how I struggle with this damn arm.

Her daughter and Bf phoned a few weeks after,  to say they were in Suffolk and could they pop in. It was a Sunday so we killed the ‘fatted Calf’ and pulled out all the stops; we were able to have a table laden with delicious food. Dh even made his famous Eton mess from scratch. I thought perhaps her mother might get in touch after this, but no.
I did email her and just said, she should be grateful for all she had, but I also said I wouldn’t phone.  And I haven’t.  I‘ve had many weepy moments with Dh and sleepless nights, but as the weeks turned into months I gradually began to accept the situation. I did send her the lovely ‘Making Winter’ book for her birthday but didn’t have a response.
But then out of the blue she phoned on my birthday December 20th and Christmas day and I had received beautiful cards. There was no mention of that horrible phone call, so I guess it's to be forgotten. I did phone on New Years Day.

But it had been such a long time from July to December I had got used to not chatting and I had stopped worrying about it. Christmas saved me a lot of money, as I didn’t buy any presents and just sent cheques to the children.
I doubt things will ever be back to how they were.  I am almost afraid to talk when she phones now. I feel whatever I say it won’t be the right thing. Dh and I have talked about the whole situation and we have decided we don’t mind if we never see them again and that she and her husband are not very nice people.

So that's that, we are loving our lives here in Suffolk and are very happy to be just 'ordinary'.

Thinking Day

I was a Guide as a girl and then became a Guide Leader.
On this day 22nd February we lit  a candle and thought about all the Guides and Scouts from all over the world. This date was chosen as it was the birth date of Baden Powell who started the scouting movement and his wife who started guiding

I loved it and was very disappointed when my daughter said she didn't.. She wasn't in the company I ran, so I said she could try my company but she wasn't to call me 'mum' but always 'Captain' and she did, except one night after she had been with me for months, she inadvertently said 'mum.' The other girls were so surprised that she was my daughter and we all laughed about it. She loved everything we did especially camping, which even my younger sons came to  until they were old enough to join scouts. At one point in my life Guiding was a big part of my life and my children. Sad to think that the other two Guiders who I camped with have both passed away.. but I have some very happy memories of the joy of those days and the singing round camp fires. I still remember those songs.

Happy Days.

Flowers and butterflies

No pics today of my sweet pea blanket but it's coming along well. I have finished part 2, and so 2 more to do, although there are more. That will be big enough for a bed throw.
And look at what some of the very talented crocheters  can do.
I fancy doing this myself.

Off to do a row or two.
