Last years front pot, over grown and out of shape and the rectangular shaped pot had broken.
What with the excessive heat of the summer and the deluge of the week before last, its a wonder anything survived! But I can honestly say I've never seen plants grow so big that they crack and break their container.
So when we went to buy a new container, Dh suggested we get something really nice..but there wasn't a lot to chose from but these looked ok.. I was dubious at first but actually they look rather nice..The plants are still very small but they will grow and I love those mauve pink winter pansies. The pots will weather a bit I hope and the plants will grow and drape over the sides of the pots.
But we've started getting the garden winter ready, have you?

The season has changed my tender plants are back in the greenhouse. Your pots are lovely and once they fill out you will have the colour you desire.
These three in a row look like they were meant to be right there. They're outside your front porch but they're lined up so nicely with the front columns and I think they'll show off your lovely front door. My annuals are looking a little ragged.
You’re right in saying that once the pots have been subjected to a bit of wind and rain - and hopefully a bit of sunshine - they won’t look quite so ‘brand new’.
I can see you peeking round the door to see how the plants are going, as L&P said, with the plants below growing they’ll put the emphasis back on your front door
It looks very nice!
Nice new planters, your Summer plants must have been really big to break the other one! I have started to get things changed over, hopefully the weather will be dry next week and I can do my kitchen window baskets.
I like the look of your new planters.
Always something to do in the garden!
All the best Jan
Your pots look lovely. I have cut the hedge at the end of my garden and have been doing some light tidying up. I haven't planted any pots up for the Winter yet, but have just ordered some bulbs to plant for colour in Spring.
We don't have a winter like you. So we do not have to prepare the garden. We had a lot of rain this winter which is unusual. We usually get tropical rain in the summer. So we didn't have to water as much as usual but now summer is coming and spring is already warming up and we need to water regularly.
Your pot plant did grow so big. I like the new pots they will grow fast in summer.
