A Favourite.

'Its been my experience, that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly you will. Of course, you must have a sunny soul and not mind a bit of rain here and there... for rain can only bring a rainbow. And no one can help loving a rainbow!'

This was said by Anne of Green Gables.

And who wouldn't believe Anne of Green Gables!
I read the book when young and saw the first TV serialised version with  Kim Braden 1978, and she was perfect for me with a natural Canadian accent, being Bernard Braden's daughter.
I watched it with my daughter, then 14 yrs, both of sniffing at certain times, it was very emotional, but we loved it.
Happy times. One of my favourite childhood books..do you have one?

I can remember 2 books which I loved and reread several times. One was 101 Dalmatians and the other was a book of poetry by famous poets, especially chosen to appeal to children. It had the most magical illustrations.

Oh how I love Anne of Green Gables. I have the whole set. If you haven't had the opportunity to read the books that take up her life after she married Gilbert and had children, I think you would really enjoy them. It is fun seeing her mature through all the phases of her life. I also love all the Avonlea books and episodes as well. I just recently restarted my blog after several years and I hope to write more about my favorite authors and books in the future. Have a great day.

Oh I loved Anne of Green Gables when I was very young, and also discovered Katy, of 'What Katy Did' and 'What Katy Did Next' fame, they were some of my favourite very early books. I was a voracious reader growing up, cereal packets at breakfast time, books when I had them from the library or jumble sales, and most definitely after each Christmas and birthday.

My favorite childhood book was Heidi, a classic book written by Johanna Spyri in 1880. It was about a 5-year old orphan who is sent to live with her crotchety grandfather in the Swiss Alps. His heart thawed and he became a warm, loving grandfather thanks to Heidi. There was a whole series of them and I read them all.
