Have you ever stopped on a road side and bought something? I have, I've bought eggs, plants, and bunches of flowers as well as vegetables, cooking apples and a Christmas tree!
And I have put outside 'free' tomato plants, selection of mugs and some casserole dishes.. with a please help yourself note! All went..

Cake Sheds!
Bakers wanting to make money are resorting to selling cakes, and in some instances bread too, outside their houses.
Some have gone from selling eggs to adding flour, fat and sugar to make cakes and setting up a cake stall as it were. A cool box for the pastries and an honesty box and also a 'tap your phone here,' machine!
Good luck to them I say... what clever ideas some people have to make a living.
Wish there was one up one of the lanes here!!

Yes, I sometimes buy things along the side of the road, but have not seen cakes like that.
We have one a few streets over from us. I haven't bought anything there yet. When I visited daughter's last year we stopped at her friends bakery shed thingy and picked up a few delicious bits.
I think it started during covid; our town has several of these stands of baked goods - in yards, driveways and porches.
Our health department used to license home bakeries but this was something else lost during covid. It makes me a little leery to purchase from them.
It's all eggs, potatoes and plants around here. A cake cupboard sounds a fantastic idea.

I would be a little leery about buying unattended baked goods. However, I haven’t seen anything like that around where I live.
Yes, around my county there are many farm stands, but most seem to sell baked goods. Maybe that will change as their gardens come on.
I have to say, I am not a big fan of the roadside baked goods, because our county has an obesity problem and this won't help. But I sure understand wanting to make a little extra money. I just hope they move on to fresh veggies!

I know my hubby would love to live near a cake shed, unfortunately that is not the case and he has to have the pleasure of mine and D's baking instead. 😊
