So I did the Fitness Class.. altho the night before I decided I wouldn't go! Slept badly and woke up thinking I'll shower and dress and see how I feel.. my friend suggested I go and give it a try. So I did! But I had 4 worries...
First worry was over come, we were able to park, no not 'we' but Dh, was able to turn the car in the space, in front of the church on the other side , so we were facing the right way to park on the road. And we did, right outside the church hall!.
Next worry, would I stand out as a grey haired old lady, over weight,, No there were others the same, may be not so over weight
Would I stand out as the 'newbie' no there were 2 others joining then too.
And would there be a disabled toilet... yes!!!
And the young woman, Karen, taking the class was lovely, so all I had to do was the exercises!
And I did and kept going for the hour! There were some my duff arm wouldn't do and there were 2 activities in the circuit that Karen adjusted for me. But over all I was able to do everything to the best of my ability and better than some. I liked the chair exercises best!
So I'll continue to go and hope as the weeks progress my legs will ache less the next day, because today they are 'red' hot!
I must admit I did feel good after it.
And any exercise must be good for me, what do you think?

Yay you, Chris! Way to go! I keep thinking I will go and do something like that, but...and you actually did it!
Oh, very well done! Hope you make it to the next session!
It's good to exercise. My exercise today was working in the yard for 2.5 hours!
I like to say 'Motion is lotion for the body' any movement/exercise is good, and it can always be adapted to individual needs.
I think you did well ...
All the best Jan
Well done. Karen sounds brilliant. xx
Definitely good for you.
It sounds like you did really well, and isn't it nice when all the worries just melt away from something that you've been dreading. I hope those legs get less got over the course of the day.
I am 85 years old and suffer from spinal stenosis, hip arthritis, and bulging discs, so after a major flareup three years ago, I joined a chair yoga class at our local senior center. It is the best thing I could have chosen. The class is cautioned to never do anything which would result in pain, to only go to the point of discomfort from the stretching. The instructor recognizes all the different body issues we have - the hip replacements, the shoulder issues, etc, and cautions us to never compare ourselves to any others in the room. I may feel sore and exhausted after the session, but I know I am better for having done it.
Good for you. I am 84 yrs. and do chair yoga three times a week and take a walk every day, weather permitting, and going over my 10,000 steps most days.
I think you should stick with it. It will get easier over the weeks.
That's why out exercise group for over 65s is called 'Keep Moving'!
Well done Chris! Keep going, you're worth it! Blods xx
Good. for you. So glad that you went despite your worries. The hardest part is getting started. Sure hope you continue with the program. It will get easier as time goes on. :)
Congratulations!! The first step is the hardest and you did it! And I bet you do hurt, your muscles don't know what happened! It will get easier and easier. And all these exercises will make you healthier!
I miss my exercise class which stopped during covid. I really need to get back into it as I think I'm getting quite overweight now.
Well done. It feels good to overcome anxieties. The exercises will become easier as you adjust to them.
I hope your exercise journey inspires to start my own. You go girl!
Well done for doing the exercise class and conquering some of those anxieties. I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope that the aching muscles become less each week. Take care.
