A Beautiful Family

I do like to see the Royal Family, although I do realise what a privileged life they live. The Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, all looked beautiful in this year's Trooping of the Colour for the King's official birthday.

I don't think anyone can deny that Catherine has the statue of a future Queen.

And its lovely to see that Princess Charlotte now 11, still looks like a little girl. I  remember in an interview Catherine, saying, that she wanted Charlotte to have a little girl's hair style and not some older style.

Prince George looking older and he is indeed quite tall and looks like William, his father, he'll be 13 in July.

And you couldn't forget Louis, age 8 and renown for his cheeky smile and antics on previous occasions, when the Royals have attended parades.. but the crowds love him all the more for his playfulness.

They are a wonderful family, but they are not immune to the cruelties of life, as Princess Catherine's diagnoses of cancer in April 2024 showed.. and this was followed by a year of chemo, with her facing the world with video's of her talking about her illness and progress. So brave of her, with world looking on, to me she was still that beautiful young woman with her children around her fighting a disease, that has no respect for wealth or statue.

It was a great occasion and all the Guards in their red jackets on horseback made an amazing sight.
However when the carriage with the family passed some members of the watching crowd, there were boos. I think Catherine was seen to look sternly at the crowd and Louis and Charlotte looked confused.  Some people don't want a King, so let them live somewhere else I say, perhaps with a Dictator? I don't know what you reading this may think but.....
.......what ever you may think, you must acknowledge that they make a lovely family.

I think our Royal family are wonderful, and yes as you say they are very beautiful. As an institution the Royals have weathered many storms over the centuries and I think people forget that. But our current Royal family, with one exception, have all done so much for our country, both traditionally and financially.

Here in the US, a lot of us are royal watchers. We don't have a stake in things like the cost, privilege, etc, so it's easy for us to just enjoy the pageantry of it all. I agree that Kate is one of the most beautiful women around and is very classy. And the family photographs well.

We are blessed to have some very hard working, conscientious members of the royal family. An elected head of state? Well, a lot of people must have voted for that orange ……. A terrible warning.

I admire the Prince and Princess of Wales for their engagement with those less privileged than they, and enjoy seeing photos of their lovely family. I like being part of the Commonwealth and sharing in the monarchy although it does cost an awful lot.

Yes, they seem to be a genuinely lovely family. I didn't watch the Trooping of the Colour this year but it is always a wonderful spectacle of pageantry.

There has been a great deal of comment this weekend in the press ( I read the Guardian ) about the Prince of Wales and his apparent reluctance to do public engagements. Even with ongoing treatment for cancer the King does significantly more than his son , and Princess Anne does more than double . I admire William for saying family first , and committing to doing the school
run etc ( a privilege my late spouse and I did not have running a two career household ( law and medicine ) with four children , meant that a Nanny was a non negotiable part of our lives .) I am also disappointed that the Wales’ have opted for boarding school
- they had a chance to reframe the Royal experience for their children by continuing to educate via day schools

I was educated at boarding school - I hated it - I was lonely and bullied ,
was not part of the cool
set ( I know this is part of the lived experience of every school
and not specific to boarding ) and as my parents were overseas
missed them enormously. The only benefit for me was the ability to totally focus on my studies so that I could complete my A levels early and start my degree at 17 . I do feel boarding does a great deal more harm than good and whilst I left over 50 years ago I still feel very bitter .
My own children were day school educated
