I never gave much thought to being old but lately its hit me I am old. I used to laugh with my friend when she used to say .. ' This getting old is bloody awful' And she was so right.
After standing looking into crates my back was aching and so were my legs. This is me getting old I thought and I sat on the bedroom chair for a while. I'm still getting over yet another urinary infection, its not so much the pain, although that can be awful, its the lack of sleep. I've got so I dread going to bed.. some nights I sit in the lounge as I don't think it fair for Dh with me getting in and out of bed..I feel I am better than I was, but still not 100%.
But I mustn't complain I've had a very blessed and happy life. My first marriage wasn't wonderful, but I do have 4 lovely children, now grown, I loved it when they were little.
Before I met Dh I had some super friends and wonderful holidays and then I met my lovely husband and life has been good, in fact very good.
So I must get myself well, the Dr has arranged for me to see a Urologist so hopefully I'll get some answers and proper treatment.. can't wait to get it all sorted and I can get a proper nights sleep.
One lovely moment yesterday I flicked open a photo album and there I was holding Saskia my grand daughter, when she was first born.. such a cutie little face, and I looked young and slim! I had forgotten how good I looked!

I feel for you as I have similar bad nights due to medication. Yes, my mum used to say the same about getting old and now I understand. I feel so young in my head but the body is a different matter! We try to laugh a lot, keep our sense of humour and focus on the good…the family, grandchildren etc etc. 😁
I'm sure your grandchildren think you're beautiful. My grandmother reminded me of a big armchair, totally huggable. I loved her that way. My mother had a lot of UTIs more so when she was in her nineties. They were giving her stronger and stronger antibiotics, which did work. I don't know if the infections completely went away but she had relief while on the antibiotics. Wishing you all the best.
I do think ageing is a state of mind, and I know for me I feel 'old' if I've had a bad night's sleep or my bad back and hips have been particularly painful. I have a friend who's 10 years older than me but is always busy, goes for long walks several times a week and just brushes off any ailments, saying 'it'll get better'. She puts me to shame!
This is the first time in a while that my computer security software would let me go to you blog. Maybe because you originate outside of the US? The age thing is worrisome if you spend much time thinking about it. I just try to live in the day and look forward to tomorrow. However, I'm not always successful with that.
Oh those old photos! Such lovely reminders! I hope the urologist has some answers and treatment to help you, Chris.
Good sleep can help such a lot and a bad night can ruin the following day. I hope you find some long-term answers.
My Dad always used to say to my husband "Don't get old, Bob, don't get old!" So now it's a standing joke around here, everytime we have some ailment we say "Don't get old!"
I hope you can get into a urologist and they can help you out.
