I'd been asked to take care of my two grandchildren while their Mum had a short hospital stay. They were living in Norwich, not a city I knew, but I had been given a rough route to a near by McDonalds and evidently my grandchildren knew what they were allowed to have.
Would you believe I had never been into a McDonalds until then?
We arrived and it was busy, in fact as it was a school half term, it was crowded.
My Granddaughter age 5 said she and her brother (age 3) would get a table while I queued for the food. The noise was horrendous, children all shouting and I shuffled along with mums in the queue. I looked up at the food all pictured and numbered. I ordered and was just about to make my way to where they were sitting, when I heard my Granddaughter shouting..
'Grandma, Grandma!' I thought oh criky I've done something wrong... I turned expecting to see something horrible going on with her and her brother, I nearly dropped the tray in my haste to get to them, 'what's wrong' I asked, 'Its the Spice Girls,' she said. And there above the screaming hoards of children were the strains of the Spice Girls singing!
When we got home my daughter and husband were there,. 'How was it?' She asked. 'It was an experience,' I replied!
This year is the 30th Anniversary since the Spice Girls first started their careers. I did like them and their sound and so did my granddaughter. The Post Office has brought out sets of stamps celebrating their anniverary.

I do remember them; not my favourite kind of music, I have to say, but they were a force to be reckoned with.
I remember half term Macdonalds when my two were little. Never again!!! You were brave. xx

They're still going, aren't they, or at least they keep coming back, haha. They weren't my favourite but they have a couple of good tunes.
They (to me) were of their time, not a group I was particularly interested in, they were on the radio and made lots of little girls scream...they are still time to time played on Radio 1 and I am not sure if all their stuff has aged well.
I remember the name of the group, but can't recall their "sound" or any song titles.
I'm amazed there are commemorative stamps of the Spice Girls. They were very popular. Did you enjoy McDonald's? I know children enjoy going there but it always seemed to me an expensive way of eating out.
I remember them, but wasn't a fan. I think they came along when I had stopped following much pop music. Now, if you asked me about the Beatles, I'm there.
My daughter liked some of their songs, I believe. Her older cousin introduced the songs to her. I wasn't very impressed!
I thought you had a picture of my chair in the bedroom but Ive been and checked and guess what I have a chair just like that. every couple of days I take everything off sort it and neatly fold most of it and put it back!! then it grows into a pile. Liked the Spice girls and I once took my grandaughter to Macdonalds.I had never been in one. When I wanted coffee the girl got a paper cup and I said I don't drink out of paper cups she said I can put it into china cup if you haveone so I popped out to the car,got my bone china mug , she was so surprised and filled it. My grandaughter aged about 9 was mortified and kept trying to disguise it. She told her Mum I'm never goimg into Macdonalds again with NannieVal,and she still doesn't!!!
Yes, I did like them. I liked their energy. The feisty Gerry was my favourite.
I'm surprised the Post office has brought out stamps although I did like some of their music.
The Spice Girls did bring a new energy to popular music but not a favourite group for me I'm afraid.
