When we moved to this bungalow, we brought with us a selection of shrubs and a few plants, but not these aquilegia, nor have I sown any. But these pop up every year, so I guess the seeds must have been in the soil around the roots of the plants we brought.
The colours range from deep purple through mauve, pink, very pale mauve (my favourite) and to white. Their seeds have blown to the other side of the garden too.
I pull up all the small ones when they have finished flowering, just leaving two or three to seed ready for next year.. free flowers! Excuse the mess on the pavers, Dh doesn't see what's in front when he decides to take a quick snap!

We too have loads of aquilegia which we didn't put in, they self seed everywhere. I don't mind because I love them.
The flowers are simply beautiful. And to know that the seeds sprinkle and the plants start over again next year, that's just a gift.
I call those columbine and I wish I had some here. They are very pretty.
Free plants are always welcome. I love aquilegias and they grow all over the place in our garden.
Granny's bonnets, just love all the different colours they come in, and FREE is always good. Xx
The flowers are lovely!
I have some of those that came up in another potted flower that I brought, isn't that something? They must be easy seeders that just like to spread themselves around. Mine came up last year and again this year . . .Like you said, Free flowers 🥰
I'm not familiar with that flower. Nice to have it volunteer for you each year.
They are pretty and how nice that they just turned up.
Free plants are always welcome... they look very nice.
All the best Jan
I love free flowers and plants that self-seed. :)
