Quilting again

ea

With the changing weather I've taken out my quilting again and decided to carry on  hand stitching this. I cut out loads of the fabric to piece together ages ago and keep meaning to pick it up. I'm proud to say it is my only wip! I have 7 blocks made.

If  When I finish it I'll give it away as we've no need for any more quilts.. Strange to be sewing again but the simple act of stitching is comforting. I might get fed up and machine it, but I'll try hand sewing for a while, it's very calming.
Do you have a calming hobby?

I love hand-sewing too. I particularly enjoy embroidery. I can't do cross-stitch though. It bores me rigid and I always go wrong.

I’m a quilter too and have made two quilts for baby girls this year. I love hand stitching but realise that I now need to machine stitch most quilts or I will never get them finished! Catriona

Sewing, by hand or machine. I have discovered that wearing my earbuds means I can listen to the radio whilst machining too!

What beautiful colors. And what beautiful selling. I've known people to quilt but it's never anything I've tried. My thing is crochet. This is just lovely.

I agree, hand stitching is calming. Even if it is only mending.

That is really pretty.
My mum loved to quilt. It was something she learned to do when she retired. After she died we found lots of quilts tucked away.

Gorgeous block. I have never had the patience to handsew my patchwork but can spend hours on it at the sewing machine. My meditative handcraft is knitting.

You should try "Slow Stitching" as it's a great way to use scraps and very comforting. Lots of videos on YouTube.
