The scent from these hyacinths is so strong I have had to put them in our conservatory.. But aren't they magnificent!
A present from my DD for my birthday which was before Christmas. I put them outside until after Christmas, so they have lasted a long time.
Not a wonderful photograph as these orchids are on the landing windowsill which seems to suit them.
When I was asked what I wanted to do when I retired many years ago I said... 'Grow orchids and keep bees.' I haven't managed the bees but my orchids flower for months on end.
Of course it never occurred to me that I would do so much craft stuff as well.. do you know 'Retirement' is not bad, in fact it is wonderful!
What did you want to do when you retired and have you been able to fulfil your dreams? I 'd love to know..

Still dreaming here, love your orchids, I regrow mine as well, I find their main need is light around their roots.

I "retired" when I slipped and fell and was permanently injured almost 11 years ago. I am still being a mom. We are so blessed our two sons live here with us still while attending university. I do get lots of stitching time.
Love the look of hyacinths but can't cope with the scent. Great tips for the care of orchids - I was gifted one at Christmas and want to make sure I look after it properly.
Two boys at university will ensure that I will not retire for quite some time!
I would just like to retire, LOL! I have a few years to go yet, but whenever I do retire, I'd like to be able to travel and do my needlework.

I love being at home now but always busy with my stitching and gardening .
Your orchids look magnificent, I think perhaps mine should have less water, I'll give it a try and see if I can get blooms like yours.
Chris, are your orchids always in bloom? I have a small one whose blooms are gone and I'm unsure what to do. Perhaps it needs a larger pot. :)
Your Hyacinths are beautiful. Along with tulips and Sweet Williams, they transport me back to my childhood and my sweet grandmother's flowers. I have cats and I have a black thumb so there are no flowers in my home.
I, too, am retired. I retired in 11/2012 when I was 51. I love being retired. Sometimes I have to pinch myself. It is hard to believe that I get to have this life.
Wow! Your orchids are lovely! I can't believe you've had them so long! I have had a number of them through the years...they always die, and ride up the street in the garbage truck! I have other plants, but have never had luck with orchids, even though I love them! You must have the special "orchid thumb"!!!
Your orchids are looking great. We also have one orchid plant that flowers again and again. But it's my husband's task to water it as he is the one with the green thumb here, lol
When I retired one and a half year ago I wanted to stitch, quilt and read to my heart's content. And that's exactly what I have been doing :)
Beautiful flowers:) Orchids are hard to grow, it sounds like I must have over-watered mine! Since I retired, doing whatever I want to do is what I enjoy, and not having to be on a strict schedule! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
