Stress!!

Our surgery has a good on line system to ask for regular medication. So I try to request my 2 regular tabs a week before they are due. This month I missed the date and so I requested them just days before I ran out. There was no problem requesting them and I checked the next day,  and they had been authorised, so I waited 3 days to allow the chemist to make them up.

When we went to collect them, the one lot was missing. When I asked why I wasn't told they had been unable to get them, the answer was there is a shortage.. I asked, but why hadn't they let me know? Grrrr it was like talking to a repeating machine. I asked again, why  hadn't they let me know, and she kept repeating they don't know what will arrive each day.. to which I replied, I hear and understand what you're  saying, but why didn't you let me know, never mind you couldn't get them, why didn't you let me know, I'm asking you a question???

We gave up Dh phoned another Chemist and they had them. I had to get another prescription from the Surgery which wasn't too difficult as there is prescription dept. And we drove to town to get them, whew. I was just a bit stressed I didn't want to run out of my tablets. So in future I will request a paper script and collect it, instead  of having the prescription electronically delivered to that chemist! I can phone around and find a chemist that has my tabs. It was so annoying and stressful!! And stress I can do without!

Anything electronic can fail. I prefer paper scripts, you can take them elsewhere if not satisfied with price or heaven forbid they've run out eek!
In Aus we pay $7.70 for PBS scripts, ie subsidised ones. Not subsidised can cost anything and chemists can charge what they like. It's a mystery how the government decides which medicines deserve to be paid next to nothing while others cost an arm and a leg.

It is worrying... my chemist went through a patch of not being able to get some of my more necessary tablets. I never actually ran out... but it was a near thing. I think the pharmacies are feeling beleaguered at the moment.
Which reminds me... I must collect my current prescription!

One advantage of being out here in the sticks- our surgery has its own efficient pharmacy (and helpful pharmacist) But you do have to allow 7 days for a prescription (it's sometimes available for collection earlier) I have a reminder on my phone.

I had the same happen here. It is curious why some pharmacies cannot get the pills while another can.

You would not be taking a prescription just for the fun of it. It is needed and the pharmacist should let patients know when something can not be filled.
Good thing to find one who had the med.
