We still have quite a bit of colour in our garden and this is thriving, It was a small snippet I brought with me from Suffolk. Fuchsias always make a great show, the way they spill out over pathways.
So we're gradually putting our garden to bed as it were for the winter. There will be one more cut of the lawn and we top dress our flower beds and I lightly prune the roses.. this year we've decided to leave the dahlias in the ground as one I missed year survived the winter.. We don't get very severe frosts and with a good 2 inch top dressing they should survive. What do you do to get through the winter in the garden?

We don't have severe winters in Australia but the plants know it is spring, even tho delayed, and are bursting with growth. It is great to see plants that looked dead suddenly sprouting. It's harder to grow the delicate varieties but bougainvillea is everywhere providing masses of colour.
The squirrel enjoys the buffet. Little rascal.
When we lived elsewhere, I had dozens of gladius in this climate which can
go down to 15 F below zero. But I left the bulbs in the ground and they always
came back. I hope your dahlia do the same. Now I do glads in pots on the
patio to bring the hummingbirds up close. Time here to dead head the
sedum.
That's a lovely fuchsia, they are a nice flower aren't they.
The squirrels are having a wonderful time this year with the abundance of acorns ...
All the best Jan
