Genuine or not?

It is difficult to give presents to your husband, wife, or partner.

Dh and I do tell each other, what we'd like.  It used to be I gave him three of four for him to choose one. But of course he gave me more than one.. So now I just say one item. I usually know what he'd like, especially if a favourite author of his has a new book out and I usually get him a new jumper too, and he loves dark chocolate. Really I say to him , they are just token gifts because if we wanted something, we'd buy it.

I am careful what I look at on line because he might assume I want it. But I have always said to him what I'd like. because  he can't read my mind!
I pointed these little birds our to him the other day and immediately he asked should he get them for me?
No, I just wanted to show them to him, because they are supposed to be made out of sea glass? I'm a bit suspicious because there were a lot for sale, and personally I've never  seen such dark colours in sea glass.
What do you think, are they genuine sea glass or not?

That's a very cute wall ornament! Would look great as garden decor. As usual food for thought, a card expressing gratitude to the person in your life is very acceptable. Not enough people do this, instead it's chocolate, melted in the heat, or other food items. Something that lasts that the person can remember you by is much better.

I wouldn't know if they're genuine, but they're gorgeous!

I laughed at the part where you have to be careful of what you look at online. :)

They are lovely no matter what kind of glass they might be from. But you certainly would want them to be honest about what it is. At our age I just let my husband buy what he wants when he wants where he wants. Me, I get a card from him.

The colours are brighter than I’ve seen here. So cute though!

Tell DH you would like a kitten for Xmas!

We do the same.
The little birds are cute, but you're right about sea glass usually being paler.

I guess if you tumbled a load of bits of coloured glass in seawater you'd get.... but maybe I'm just cynical. I think they are pretty enough without being seaglass!

I just googled if you can make sea glass and the answer was "Yes, in a rock tumbler with lots of water and sand." So technically those birds could have been made with man-made sea glass instead of by Mother Nature. Very pretty birds!

Don't know but they sure are pretty.

The birds are cute, no idea if they would be genuine. We don't buy each other presents anymore, if either of us want anything we would buy it, although hubby did buy me some of my favourite perfume last year, which was a surprise, I was quite impressed that he had thought of it all by himself, lol

This is beautiful!

I think you're right, and these birdies are actually made of tumbled glass. Which is what the sea does, too.
I have not bought a thing for Larry yet, and I dont think he's shopped for me either! We may skip gift-giving for each other this year, as we have done before. Neither of us have any big wants.

Like the others, I think it is a beautiful little object and would gladly receive that as a gift, Christmas or not. :-) xx

I'm not sure what sort of glass those little birds are made of but they are very pretty regardless.

No matter what the little birds are made of they're pretty.

If the maker of the birds went to Seaham near Durham, then it is entirely possible as there was a Glass factory there in Victorian times and you can fine ALL sorts of amazing colours!!!
My husband keeps saying "No, I haven't got you anything!" and I keep saying, "It doesn't matter, I don't want or need anything!" but I have got him a few things. I'm not sure how he'll feel about the second hand clothes I've bought him on Vinted, but here's hoping he likes them! I managed to find him a matching jacket to his Christmas tartan trousers!
