Vampires?

I have the dreaded blood tests today, which in recent years I've come to hate and fear. Some nurses are fine, but I've had few who fail to find a viable vein on the first go and then prod me in others, each time saying just a sharp prick!

I have been known to let my feelings be known so loudly, they can be heard in the waiting room! The one time, the girl gave up and the head honcho came and blood flowed at her first attempt!

The very worse one was a junior Dr who left me black and blue with bruises and tears streaming down my face.. So I'm drinking pints of water in readiness before we go.

Wish me luck!

  1. My last blood test was the best one I have ever had. None of that 'sharp scratch' business, she just got on and did it and I hardly felt it. When I was a child and had to have an injection our family doctor would always pinch a bit of skin, whilst chatting away about this and that. He would then release the numbed skin and do the injection, still chatting and it didn't hurt at all. He was a wiley old bird!

  2. Prayers...
Use was taken aback to see I marked blood test appointments in telephone diary with great red map pin symbol! Hope today's a good day for the nurse, and therefore you.

  4. I had to have blood work done a few weeks ago and I had one of those new people who had to poke and prod... Hope yours goes well!

  5. It is a skill that some have and others don't. I compliment the ones who make it painless.

  7. I have to go for monthly blood tests and it’s surprising how nurses differ in the amount of pain that they dish out! ‘ Sharp prick’ sometimes means the ‘dagger effect!’ 😂
However, I tend to look away and hope that it won’t be too painful.
I hope it went ok for you! 😁

  8. Good luck. I don't have easy veins, and sometimes, it takes several sticks before they get it. It's no fun, but you have to do what you have to do.

  9. Each year my doctor orders a panel of blood tests before my physical appointment which requires me to fast overnight. Inevitably, the lack of liquid leads to problems finding the vein.

  10. Yikes! I remember one time ending up with bruising all the way from my elbow to my wrist.
I hope it went okay for you this time. Xx

  11. Probably a bit late now but I take an aspirin - it's supposed to thin the blood a bit and make it easier. No idea if that's actually a fact, but I do in case.
    Hope it went well. xx

  12. I hear you! I can't even watch, have to turn my head. But I am lucky enough to have very good veins, and I am very thankful for that. What misery for you though.
