Victor Meldrew???

My darling husband (Dh) is a real love, kind, loving and patient but now and then he gets a 'bee in his bonnet' and can be like a real Victor Meldrew.

Here in Wales everything is recycled and so Dh prides himself in us only having a very small amount in our blue sack, rubbish bag.. so the other week he was insensed when someone put a bulging blue sack outside our drive way, when ours was practically empty. He went on and on about it, I said go and put it outside some one else's house. Of course he didn't, but he wasn't happy.

We also have, as well as various bags for different stuff, a lidded bin for food waste.. which we do use. The younger couple down the way from us obviously don't, as the sea gulls attack her blue sack and rubbish gets strewn all over the road. Dh moans about that too, but I just laugh.. and I always say to him, we're too old to get het up about things outside our control, but he does still have a moan!

When we were talking about it, I'd said in jest.. don't go outside in your pyjamas like Victor Meldrew did, if there's a noise....... remembering the episode in 'One Foot in the Grave,' when Victor arrived back in the bedroom with a dead hedgehog on his foot. And we laughed and laughed!

Well what else can you do?

It must be a week for husbands with rubbish issues. Mine had one as well but ours was because our recycling bin hadn't been emptied. He had a real bee in his bonnet for several days. And we're on different sides of the world. Keep well :)

They all have their Meldrew moments - and women do, too.

Don't know the Victor Meldrew over here, but I get the gist and am laughing. We too have people that do NOT keep the lid on their trash container and our racoons and crows just love to pillage threw and toss what they do not eat. Then this morn my neighbor put out an aluminum step ladder to be picked up by the truck. They picked it up OK, but we have a metal recycling center that will pay for aluminum! It is not that far away. By the way, any updates on the 3 hedgehogs?

My husband is serious about the recycling, compost and waste too! I always check with him about where things go!

A woman were I live got all bent out of shape when a dog walker deposited a bag of poop in our trash can and she left our lunch table in a huff to confront the dog walker. I don't understand why it bothered her because there was plenty of room and it was in a plastic bag that wouldn't smell. But I get your husband being prideful of his recycling skills and not wanting to be judged otherwise. Still funny, though, what bothers some and not others.

I have to admit, I do not know who Victor Meldrew is but I do know that trash woes can certainly get your blood pressure up! It happened just the other week here. So funny in the grand scheme of things but not funny in the moment. And it certainly was my hubby who's bp was rising!!:)

Laugh, of course. Laughing helps so much!
I think we all have Meldrew Moments, not that I've ever thought of it like that but I will from now on! Love it. xx

I wish we had recycling here where I live. But we try to do what we can. Love your husband getting in an uproar over that bag! Too funny.
