What a cheek!

When my step counting watch went phut, Dh bought me a new one. It's an all Bells n Whistles one and logs all sorts of things as well as steps. Would you believe yesterday it said..'It looks like you took a nap at 4:03 for 1 hr 43mins..' So my every move or non move is being recorded!! It keeps telling me my sleep score is poor, logging when I wake! I need more sleep it says.. I know that, no need to tell me, just tell my bladder that!

But when my steps don't achieve my target I can read its frustration in its score.. so I'm tired and don't move enough? Well if I slept better I'd  be more active,, my virtual walk, this time in Barcelona is, 16.4km  behind my planned pace!

All around me there are prompts to exercise, there are TV adverts, FB adverts, health warnings of being over weight and the need to keep active.. But, as yet I have never seen an news item or charity request for funds for research into over active bladders in aging people. I've yet to meet a female over 75 plus who didn't have to get up for the toilet more than once at night.

And it occurs in males too, so why isn't there a research project into why there is this frequent need to empty your bl***y bladder?  Any answers?

Loved your post. My DD2 gave me one of those watches, it indicates I am sleeping while watching TV. No, I am not.
I am 84 years old, quite active for my age and really no health issues. You said you have never met an older person who does not get up at night for the loo. Well, you have just met one, if commenting on your blog is classed as being met. Very seldom do I get up for the bathroom at night and I sleep sound for at least 7 1/2 to 8 hours every night. I consider myself fortunate for that. Have a great day.

No answer to the bladder problem...
I set my walking target so low that I always achieve it - one person's 'cheating' is another one's 'happiness optimisation without stressing'. And my virtual walking target is also set low for the same reason. My fit bit is there to serve me, not nag me!

Frequent loo breaks for older men are usually associated with enlarged prostate, and seem the be a fact of life for many of us. Not sure whether there's a similar explanation for older women (obviously not prostate!), or whether it's just part of getting old?

My daughter wanted to get me a similar watch, but, I told her that I didn't need it. I think I'm glad I chose not to get one - I don't need another thing to nag me about exercise, etc.! LOL.

I have a watch that can record sleep, but I don't wear it at night. I would only worry more about my sleep if I had numbers in front of me. :)

I think I will avoid getting a watch or any device that tells me what to do. I get annoyed enough at all the beeping going on here, with the oven, microwave and the washing machine all telling me that they attention or need emptying, and Alexa asking me if I want various things. :-)

I did try a watch like yours but I got fed up with the nagging- not enough sleep, not met your target etc. It now sits on the dresser and sulks although it has probably gone to sleep itself because it ran out of charge. 😊

I have a watch that instructs me and I just ignore it unless I agree with it.

I have a fitness watch somewhere, haven't worn it in ages. If i did wear it it would not be very happy with me as i rarely get in the steps 'they' recommend, although I am on the go most of the day. Hubby gets up in the night, more or less the same time every night.
