Hairdesser V Barbers

It seems that there are now inquiries into all these new Barber shops, popping up around, which have been suspected of money laundering. When Dh heard this on the Jeremy Vine radio show, his answer to them is, they should all be shot at dawn!!

He has an aversion to barbers, as he is very proud of his full head of hair, albeit now white! His last visit to the barbers, he said was a very traumatic experience. He had found a barber in town that he liked, an older man who understood 'short back with long side burns,' but horror of horrors, he has left.. and now it is one of the Turkish barbers, who operate the 'number' versions of cuts.

Asked what he wanted, Dh had said...number 8! So having persuaded the young man, that he only needed a light trim, he sat down nervously watching the barber in the mirror. All was going ok, when he was asked about his eyebrows and ears. Dh grows enough hair in those to stuff a cushion.. but whoops before he could say anything, the barber produced a smoking spill and proceeded to burn off Dh's ear hair, after which he asked Dh to lean forward to the basin and started to wash his hair. Dh sat up and explained, only he, himself and his Mum washed his hair!! LOL He is such a baby!!

I said it looked very nice, and it did..  I had the same thing, without the 'ear experience' and paid £44, Dh paid £14, so why is he making a fuss!!

I love having my hair washed and styled and have it done weekly.. what about you, do you like someone doing your hair?

Haha, yes, Mick was rather taken by surprise on his first visit to the Turkish barbers. I hate going to the hairdressers, over the years I've found particular hairdressers I've got to know and my visits have been okay but then they leave or close and you have to start all over again getting to know someone else, and them having to get to know you and what you want. I'm a few years in to the hairdresser I visit now, fingers crossed she doesn't close in the foreseeable future.

No I hate the whole process of going to the hairdressers, I have an appointment tomorrow for my colour but will wash and dry it again when I come home. Have yet to find a hairdresser that blow drys my hair the way I like it.

I hate having my hair done. I loathe the whole experience, making meaningless conversation, and particularly dislike sitting in front of a large mirror . . .

My hairdresser left to have a baby, I was devastated, she found me on social media and now comes to my house, much cheaper than a salon.

We had several small shops taken over by new barbers. They never seem to have customers, but pay in great wads of cash at the bank, far more than the busy hairdresser earns.

I hate, hate, hate going to the hairdressers. Which is unfortunate as I have very short hair and need a trim every 6 weeks. Alan trims his own hair himself with a trimmer, number 4 on top and number two for his beard and moustache. After many years of watching me do it he almost mastered it, all I have to do now is go in and trim all the edges and tidy up the bits he misses, including his awkward 'swirl' at the back of his head. We've saved a fortune on barbers fees. He only ever went to the barbers once when we lived in Oxfordshire and he had a full trim and his beard shaved off ... it cost him £30 ... never again.

I get my hair washed at the salon every four weeks when it gets cut. And I, of course, wash it at home about twice a week. Sometimes three times. I can't say I love or hate having someone else wash my hair. It's just something that has to be done to get a good cut.

In my Downton Abbey type day dreams I have a ladies maid to give me the perfect blow dry or a wonderful 'up do' every day. What I have never liked is the whole hair salon experience of someone asking me where I am going on my holidays while the woman in the next chair moans about her husband, nor the haircut that only vaguely resembles what I asked for and the "You don't mind if I leave it a bit damp, do you?" question as the hairdryer fails to dry my very thick, long hair in the allotted time.
Imagine my joy when, a couple of years ago, a discovered an excellent hairdresser who works on her own, enjoys intelligent conversation, cuts my hair exactly as I want and even dries it properly afterwards. Imagine my horror when she emailed a couple of days ago to say that she is going to change things and to 'watch this space' for updates. I am hoping that this only ends up as a move to new premises...

I rarely get my hair done, but love it when I do!

I must admit that I'm not a big fan of going to the hairdressers, but I do have a regular lady I see (have been seeing her for years) and I really like going to her. She knows what I like, never messes it up and only changes things up if I ask her to.
I used to go to someone my MIL like and she would always make comments about my hair and how I should use x (which I could buy from them lol). After that I went to one of the bargain places, and some of the people were okay but some didn't understand English a lot and I had a terrible experience.
Husband cuts his own hair now as does son.

I used to love getting my hair washed when I did go to the hair dressers. Now Ken just cuts my hair!

I love a visit to the hairdresser for a wash and style or colour. I always feel very pampered. Bob, hubby, does his own hair, with clippers. A number 8 like DH.

Doctors, Dentists, Hospitals & Hairdressers - they all make a mess of things and I certainly keep a reasonable distance from them all, unless a health issue is involved of course😂. Jan

I like the hairdresser. I enjoy someone else combing my hair. The latest lady who cuts my hair does a good job but perhaps a bit too short. Lucky it grows fast. Bill goes to a barber and gets short back and sides he looks neat afterwards as he usually lets his hair grow into a shaggy mess.

I enjoy having my hair cut and dried at the hairdressers but not the idle conversations or the cost. Why is it my hair cut costs 3 1/2 times that of my husbands ? And most of the time I cut his myself anyway. 😂
