Dripping Tap?

A text message that a parcel had been delivered yesterday, caused Dh great anxiety, because it hadn't arrived.  He walked all around our bungalow, but no parcel.  'What did the text say?' I asked..

'Left in back porch by green sacks,' he replied. Oh no! Not good, because we don't have a back porch..He went next door as he has a porch and some green garden sacks were beside it. No answer when he knocked.. So next step was to phone Yodel. He was ages on the phone, getting more and more impatient. (irate!!) Yes he was talking to an ibod! (Is that what they're called)

He hadn't said what it was, he has his secret buys, mine are kindle books, which don't show, his are CDs! It doesn't bother me one bit, but he doesn't like to show how many he buys.

Anyway he was back on the phone and it stopped ringing as it got through... probably because his number was recognized and may be blocked, well he had phoned twice and was on the phone quite a while. The search for the missing parcel was like a dripping tap, Dh could not let it go.

'What is it?' I asked.

'A wind up torch, in case the war disrupts our energy supply,' He admitted.

What?? Honestly what is he like?? I suggested using a different phone, mine or the house phone. It was answered by a real person.. the result of this was, that they would email a photograph of where the parcel had been left. He felt better and decided he'd have another look around by one of our side entrances.. by our green garden sacks.

And that's where it was in dark grey plastic packaging! I think in all it took over an hour, whew!

And it works, so if there are power cuts and its dark, we have a wind up torch.. incase you wanted to know!

A man toy?

Do you think we'll need it?

  1. My postman plays 'hide the parcel' too. So no one can see it, but I can't find the parcel either. But if you go to the PO they have a photo of where it's hidden.
Cyclone Narelle has dumped rain all day and cut off half Perth's power supplies.

  2. We pray we don't need things like that. But I do have a lantern that runs off of solar. And on the sunny days I put it outside to keep the battery charged. Wouldn't be good on a gray day though.

  3. Agh, I do understand his frustration! Glad he found it. Husband here buys things like that. I don't know how many lights we have 'in case of power loss'.
Once I had a photo of a delivery right near a white picket fence which was definitely not our house or even one I recognised lol

  4. Well you never know when you might need it, we needed ours last week. All our torches are round at the bungalow, so when a bird came down Alan's chimney last week luckily he had his wind up torch in the kitchen drawer, and we could take the vent off and get spot the whereabouts of the bird. I do think it's the first time it's ever been used in a genuine emergency though.

  6. It's a good idea to have something like that if we lose power. I'm glad he got the package! It's so frustrating when they say something has been delivered and it's not there!

  7. Always useful to have, but disappearing parcels are such a nuisance. We've lost days tracking things!

  8. Hello, glad the package was found. I’d like that torch in case the electricity runs out. We have several of these things around the house, it’s a thing with me. Husband thinks it is a nostalgic thing, from the time I used to read under the sheets with one as a kid and my mum used to shout to put that torch out, it’s time to sleep :) who knows and a big smile to you and your hubby. Enjoyed reading.

  9. We keep a wind up torch in the car, because when we kept a battery one in there, on the odd occasion we needed a torch for map reading or changing a tyre, the batteries were flat. I think your husband is doing the right thing, we are considering buying a camping stove!

  10. We have a couple of wind-up torches. They do come in useful in emergencies as whenever you want to use an ordinary torch the batteries always seem to be dead! They do take a fair bit of winding though.

  11. How frustrating for your husband. We pretty much always get a photo of where they leave things. That helps a lot since it’s not always the same place.

  13. I think it's worth having a few torches around the house. You never know when you might need one and they're safer than candles! I'm a prepper, not for doomsday or war, just in case we can't get out to the shops for any reason. Sometimes it's bad weather or we might come down with a bug. We have camping stoves, but lately I've been playing with alcohol stoves too. Don't tell your hubby or he'll be buying more stuff!!
