Dh and I have been walking , not on this beach but on the promenade above it.. There was a sea 'breeze' but as we were wrapped up well, we didn't feel cold, even though it was only 4°C. Dh was wearing his bobble hat and to be honest I wish I had too, because my ears got cold and my left one is a bit achy, hope it calms down.
Doesn't this couple look nice with their dog, mooching along the waters edge, although a bit bleak.
I felt invigorated by the fresh sea air and the walking gave me a good feeling too.
Something I want to do as often as I can, I won't say everyday, because I don't go out in the rain!! But this a step to getting healthier. We watched a TV programme Tuesday evening called, 'What not to eat,' and I'm proud to say apart from bacon, we eat very healthily.. It was all about ultra processed foods. They showed how the cheap ham is produced and it looked disgusting. So we're thinking should we reduce our bacon, but we do like our scrambled eggs and bacon! Any ideas on what we could have instead?

I removed bacon and sausages from my diet.. what a difference to my cholesterol reading. In place of bacon, mushrooms are tasty particularly if they're fresh, or grilled tomatoes. Looks like it's just you and them on the beach!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit envious of your walks outside. I managed to get one in on tuesday. Yesterday it rained all day until 7:00 p.m., and then a polar wind came out of the North and turned the ring into snow and it is about minus 20 C right now.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike walking in rain, cold winds and freezing temperatures, it feels like we've been marooned indoors for ages. That programme is such an eye opener.
ReplyDeleteWhat Not to Eat is a really good programme isn't it. That meat concoction was dreadful, as was last weeks strawberry milkshake. I don't eat meat so if I am having eggs for breakfast I sometimes sauté some peppers, onion and tomatoes together, it makes for a nice mix either with scrambled eggs or as an omelette with the eggs poured over them as they are nearly cooked.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not the same as bacon, but we like chopped broccoli and tomatoes in our eggs.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty place to walk! I'm walking inside in this season. It's too cold! It's -10 degrees Celsius here this morning.
ReplyDeleteI do like bacon too with my eggs or as a sandwich.
ReplyDeleteI've not been out for a proper walk for weeks. The oxygen whooshing through my nose feels like an arctic gale! Lovely in hot weather, but not at the moment. So I get my steps in by walking on the spot while watching evening TV.
ReplyDeleteSmoked salmon is delicious with scrambled egg; you don't need much...
That's a lovely photo. I haven't walked nearly enough since Christmas, busy with decorating! I stopped buying and eating ham and any processed meat years ago after reading about it. Nothing better than the smell of bacon cooking but again I don't buy it anymore, I do like sausage but try to limit it to perhaps once a month or so. No idea what would replace bacon, perhaps just save it for a treat occasionally?
ReplyDeleteI love to get out for a walk, even when the weather's cold. A hat and woolly socks can definitely make you feel warmer, but I don't think you feel the cold so much once you start walking. Archie used to love his walks on the beach, I miss him so much when we visit the coast now.
ReplyDeleteA nice place to walk. As you know I sure enjoy my morning walks. I dress in quite a few layers so stay warm.
ReplyDeleteIt seems preferable not to be south of the Arctic circle. Having said that walking here is like being in a fan forced oven.
ReplyDeleteBaby mushrooms in a pan, break an egg into it. Or you could add fish fingers, or noodles.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to enjoy a walk ... you just feel better for it :)
ReplyDeleteHow about Aubergine/Eggplant bacon?
This vegetable is a rich source of antioxidants, fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and phytonutrients, all of which can help protect heart health. It also contains a chemical called nasunin, which may increase blood flow to the brain.
Just slice thinly, season as required and bake or fry.
Another option could be mushrooms, but I'm sure you will find an alternative to suit you.
All the best Jan
I wonder if that is the same program we watched with awful pink ooze formed into "ham". That was enough to turn anyone off it. We still eat bacon but try not to overdo it.
