Our monthly book group in the library has been moved to 12:00 md, so no hanging around yesterday, as we had to get into town, park and then walk to the library. Altho of late we've been showering fairly early, well I say early, but before 10 am, so probably late for a lot of people. Its because if I'm awake in the night, when I do get back to sleep, I sleep on past our usual get up time.
We spent the first few minutes discussing our Christmas meal booked in December at the Italian restaurant, where we went to for Dh's birthday. He and I have already decided what we'll have! Once we did get round to discussing the book, the general opinion was it was a 'nice' read, nothing to write home about.. so 'The Keeper of Lost Things' was shelved.... but then we were joined by a young man, who had come to join our group and had read the book.
He had delved deeply into the book and had formed opinions on the characters, their emotional relationships, their inner feelings and compared it to another book and film. He never stopped talking, I had to jump in when he took a breath, to say 'Moving on,' what did one of the other members think about it. So that's going to be interesting in the future if he comes back. He had come on the bus from Maesteg, so why to our little library?
Our next read is Josephine Tey's, 'The Daughter of Time' so an easy read. I read it years ago. but can't remember it!

Hey it's cold in Wales.. hope it warms up a bit. We're more than toasty, this week it's hovered between 30c to 34c and it isn't summer yet. We'll be melting by Jan - life downunder.
I enjoyed the Keeper of Lost Things too.
I go by my scales at home; the day I started WW years ago was a heatwave; I wore a thin summer dress. So for the rest of the year I appeared to be gaining weight at WW as the weather grew colder!
Your temperature is like ours at present. Do you have the strong winds too?
I really enjoyed The Keeper of Lost Things which I also read with my Book Group. Enjoy this new book and I’ve taken a note of it for future reading. Catriona
I thoroughly enjoyed The Keeper of Lost Things, as did my book club and we had quite a discussion about it. I went on to read several other of her books.
When you have a good book, bad weather is easier to accept. Dinner out sounds like a great gift to yourselves when the date comes. We have a bit of a break in the freezing weather for a couple days. Earlier this week the bird baths were all frozen solid.
I have not read KOLT, but I loved DOT
I've read the Keeper of Lost things, it was just ok for me. In a group there is always one that dominates the conversation, we have a woman in our library book club that seems to talk more than anyone else, sometimes it's hard to get a word in, we have another one that just likes to talk about the book and nothing else, she has been known to leave early if she thinks we are getting off topic 😂
We had our first frost last night, but the day has been lovely and bright and sunny.
Yes, it certainly has turned cold ... a warming bowl of soup is so welcome :)
All the best Jan
Ooh boy, good luck with that young man.
Brrr. That's cold! Reading good books indoors when the weather is chilly is the most perfect activity.
