There wasn't anywhere I particularly wanted to go yesterday, but when I saw the horrendous down pour first thing, I thought oh no, it's too wet to be going out! I hate getting wet.
But when Dh asked where I wanted to go, I said, no where.. I just wanted the option to go! Silly or what?It came down like 'stair rods,' Isn't that a silly saying, most people say like 'cats and dogs. ' In Wales they say 'Old women and sticks!' Anyway it was very, very wet|!
Dh dashed out into the garden for some lettuce at lunch time, one of the disadvantages of growing your own! LOL
When it did stop the impulse to to out had gone and we stayed in and watched some tennis. When Dh went to prepare our easy Thursday night meal, as its SW weigh day today, I switched to watch Garden Makeover.. One of the programs Carol Klein says doesn't teach people how to garden, but then some of us just want to look at the designs and the flowers and the water features, so we don't want to learn.
It was really good and I loved it.. and I love Blue Geraniums.
May be after SW we'll go to town for a coffee? That is unless the rods, dogs or old women don't arrive!

The rain seems to be very unevenly distributed, some areas having downpours, while others are officially in drought conditions.
Fresh lettuce from your own garden, that's tasty. Hope the tennis match was a good one.
I think stair rods comes from the days when stair carpets were kept in place by shiny brass rods (more polishing!). Thrifty house wives would realign the carpet from time to time so the worn patches could be hidden.
Those are all interesting expressions, but I have only heard of "raining cats and dogs."
My gran said is was "rainin' straight 'air pins!"
Our lettuce is just breaking ground now. It will be some time before we are eating it. Enjoy yours!
I know a saying about rain but it isn't very nice. Hope no one is offended. It's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock. :)
Your photo is lovely and your blog header is stunning. Interesting expressions.
Sorry about your rain, areas of Kent have been badly affected I think ... meanwhile other areas could do with some more!
I do like those Blue Geraniums.
All the best Jan
I've heard the expression, "Raining cats and dogs", but, not the others.
I love Blue Geraniums too..especially Rozanne! I hope that the sun shines for you, this week! 😁
I love those old sayings! It has been rain, rain, rain here, with some places getting some bad flooding in the north of our state. And more rain on the way.
I love watching those sort of gardening programmes. I find them good to unwind to in the evenings and I go to sleep with lots of ideas for our garden. Well I can dream can't I ?
