A delightful few days away.

We had to cancel our planned Italian holiday, so have been having days out and days away.
Last week we had three lovely days in Stratford Upon Avon.
Our hotel was just five minutes stroll to the town.
We stopped each morning on the little bridge to watch barges going through the locks on the way to have breakfast at Carlucci's,
an Italian café that over looked the river.
In the sun sitting outside, we could have been in Italy!
When we lived in Coventry we visited Stratford quite often and it still holds its charm for us.
Lots of visitors there all visiting Shakespeare's house.
It always looked pretty with the pelargoniums; the floral displays were beautiful throughout the town. We mooched around, stopped at a cafés, drank lots of coffee, ate lemon cheese cake and scoffed a bag of fudge, did some shopping and bought a winter jacket each. All in all we did what we liked and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The sun shone and it was warm, even though it poured with rain as we drove there, by the time we arrived the rain and black clouds had gone. I said probably because we had forgotten our sun glasses and I had bought a mac!!
It was nice to get away. and what I needed because  I saw a specialist on the Wednesday before we went and the news on my arm was not good. My bone has not healed, and he said it might never heal.
The brace was taken off and a new one put on.  I am to start ultra sound treatment on my arm, he advised multi-vitamins and calcium tabs. I really don't need them, as we eat a very healthy diet and I drink at least half pint of milk and eat two yogurts daily, but I have bought them and am taking them. Anything to get back to normal.
On Tuesday it will be September 1st, our first day of Autumn, I feel I have missed the whole of summer with this arm!

Sounds like a great few days away. I haven't been to Stratford for many years but used to go regularly as a child to visit my Grandparents. Sorry it wasn't good news about your arm, lets hope your next visit will be better.

Your break in Stratford sounds relaxing and fun, just what you required. It's a pain when you are not healing as expected, after a couple years of health issues which lingered, I understand your frustrations.

Oh Chris , so sorry about your arm. Try anything they recommend, it might help . Will be keeping fingers crossed for you.
Haven't been to Stratford for a few years , but loved it the couple of time we visited. Not sure how much would interest the kids so , maybe a day away for us when they are older . xxx

Sounds like you got your taste of Italy without all the heat! Sounds lovely.

Hope your arm heals. I'll be lighting a candle for you. Doctors are often wrong and it was a "may not heal" not a "won't"!

Take care!

Hi Chris, so sorry to hear about your arm, but it seems I'm in the same boat. My ankle has healed as well as it ever will and I'll probably be left with a limp. Has your doctor suggested getting a bone density scan to check for osteoporosis? I went and found out I'm in the "process" and have what is called osteopenia. So I, too, must take calcium and Vitamin D to try to stop the progression. And now that school is starting again in a week, I feel like summer passed me by, too. I didn't get away at all but rather spent the whole time sorting out my house in prep for a move (stairs too hard for me now) and trying to stay cool in the midst of our very unusual drought! We have some cooler weather now and some welcome rain but it just makes me feel dreary! Lots to look forward to, though, and will fill you in as things happen. Do take care and so glad you got to Stratford Upon Avon - I've had the pleasure twice and love the city.

So sorry to hear about your arm. I do hope that things will improve in time even if not immediately. Glad that you had a few days away, I am sure that it would have helped to cheer your spirits, I hope so anyway. Take care. xx

I'm sorry your Italian holiday didn't work out, but your Stratford Upon Avon trip looks delightful, Chris.

You must be so frustrated with the news about your arm--I truly hope it keeps improving and does heal eventually...
